Five Lloydminster fire members get long-service awards

Five members of the Lloydminster Fire Department are being saluted by the City of Lloydminster for their years of service.

Firefighters Brad Berry, Calem Gustavson, and Captain Mark Lane each have 12-years of service while Captain Calvin Nickless has 40-years of service.

Captain Jerry Conlon who is getting a 12-year service award says they are very honoured to receive the Alberta Emergency Services Medal.

“I’ve been serving the community for 12-years now, and it’s been an absolute honour and pleasure doing so,” says Conlon.

The recipient notes the growth and change in the last decade including the move from a volunteer fire service to a composite fire department encompassing full-time and paid on-call members.

The Alberta Emergency Services Medal or AESM, is awarded to emergency services personnel who have given 12, 22, 32, and 40 years of service.
