Horizon dawns with Agland, Martin Deerline merger

At the end of July, local dealership Agland will merge with Martin Deerline to form Horizon Ag & Turf.

The July 31 marriage will bring together Agland’s three locations with Martin Deerline’s 10 operations. Martin Deerline’s John Deere dealerships are in Edmonton (2 locations), Warburg, Mayerthorpe, Westlock, Barrhead, High Prairie, Falher, Wetaskiwin, and Calgary. While Agland operates in Lloydminster, St. Paul, and Vermilion.

“This partnership is a significant step forward in our strategy to continue to build a strong, relevant business that focuses on taking care of our staff, our customers, and our suppliers, the three pillars of our business. We both have a long successful history in the Agricultural, Construction, and Turf businesses, and this is a natural move forward for us,” said Cam Kay, GM of Agland, who will be CEO of the newly formed Horizon Ag & Turf.

Agland as a John Deere dealership has roots dating to 1957 while Martin Deerline started in 1965.

“The Martin Deerline and Agland teams have been neighbouring dealers and friends for nearly 60 years, and we are excited to see this opportunity come to fruition. Going forward, we will have expanded inventories, more product specialists, and the ability to provide more timely, innovative solutions,” said Cam Martin, CEO of Martin Deerline.

Cam Martin (Edmonton), and Darren Lindsay (Lloydminster), will be the operations managers of their respective regional dealerships at Horizon Ag & Turf. Merrill Martin (Edmonton) and Wayne Peyre (Westlock) will serve on the board of directors with Cam Martin, Darren Lindsay, and Cam Kay.

Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
