Lloydminster Interval Home gets $50K donation from RONA Foundation

The Lloydminster Interval Home is getting a  $50,000 donation from the RONA Foundation. The local shelter that offers women and children a haven from domestic abuse says it will use the funds for renovations to its services.

“The Lloydminster Interval Home Society is so grateful to the RONA Foundation’s Build from the Heart program for this much needed contribution to our transitional housing facility, the Dol-Mar Manor. This project helps us provide safety, support, and a sense of home to the women and children that live there,” says Tara Lawrence, director of community programs.

The Build from the Heart program was launched in May 2023.

“At the RONA Foundation, we’re driven by the desire to make a difference in people’s lives every day. At a time when access to housing is a challenge, making Canadian populations all the more vulnerable, we want to help communities,” says Catherine Laporte, president of the RONA Foundation’s board of directors and senior vice-president, marketing and customer experience at RONA.

The RONA Foundation received 100 applications in this second offering of funding, and the selection committee chose projects of seven non-profits to share a total of $1 million.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
