Unemployment ticks upwards on Sask side of Lloydminster

The unemployment rate is above the provincial average on the Saskatchewan side of Lloydminster.

For July, the unemployment rate was 5.7 per cent, above the Saskatchewan rate of 5.4 per cent in the Prince Albert-Northern Saskatchewan region that includes Lloydminster.

Meanwhile, on the Alberta side of the Border City where that area is included in the Camrose-Drumheller region, the unemployment rate is at 4.6 per cent which is below the Alberta statistic of 7.0 per cent.

The national figure reveals that Canada lost a net 2,800 jobs in July with students and newcomers on the hook to find employment. The national unemployment rate is 6.4 per cent, compared to 6.2 per cent in June.
