A Lloydminster boxer is booking her spot for Sarnia, hoping to punch her ticket further for Team Canada at the World Championships, Pan-American Games, or even the next Olympics.
Head coach Austin Burgess says Jessica Caverly will represent Saskatchewan against the country’s best after winning the provincial championships in Saskatoon in October.
“I know she’s ready to prove she’s the top of the heap due to her consistent improvements and previous experience against national champions and now-professional boxers.”
Caverly, a school teacher, will book her date with destiny at the Elite National Championships in Sarnia, Ontario, from November 19-24.
“My biggest challenge is definitely the nerves of stepping into the ring at such a high level. I know how much this means to many of the women including Olympic hopefuls and future professionals,” says Caverly.
Described by the club as “dedicated and hard-working”, Caverly is ranked seventh in Canada and aims for a top 5 place after Sarnia.
