A Kinsella man is facing attempted murder charges in Wainwright court after police say he drove his car into a home and fired shots from a long gun.
On Nov. 15, 2024, at about 12:35 p.m., Wainwright RCMP received a report of a vehicle collision and firearm discharge at a residence located on 5th Avenue in Wainwright.
During their investigation, officers determined that a man had threatened to kill another individual. The suspect then drove to the home and struck the home with his vehicle. Following the collision, the suspect discharged two shots from a long gun. No injuries were reported.
Police say when they arrived the suspect surrendered to officers without further incident.
Ryan Tessman, a 35-year-old resident of Kinsella has been charged with:
- Attempted murder with a firearm
- Possession of a firearm in motor vehicle
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Careless use of a firearm
- Mischief over $5,000
- Dangerous operation of motor vehicle
- Assault with a weapon
- Uttering threats
- Discharge of a firearm with intent
- Failure to comply with undertaking condition
Tessman was taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He is to return to the Alberta Court of Justice in Wainwright on Dec. 2, 2024.
