Lloydminster driver dies in Christmas Eve collision

A 24-year-old man from Lloydminster who was driving a pick-up truck was declared deceased by EMS at the scene of collision on Christmas Eve.

At about 7:45 a.m., first responders, including Lloydminster Rescue Squad, EMS, and Maidstone RCMP, were called to a collision involving a pick-up and a semi on Highway 17, approximately five kilometres north of Lloydminster.

The driver of the semi did not report injuries to police.

Highway 17 was closed during the initial investigation but was re-opened after several hours.

Maidstone RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.

Police have notified the family of the deceased and extend condolences.
