Cold Lake RCMP clear area after containment of suspects

The police barricades are being cleared away in Cold Lake, Alta.

The local RCMP detachment sealed off the 47 Street to 45 Street area in the city earlier today, due to suspects in a home invasion being traced to a residence on 47 Street. Containment was put in place around the home since 5:00 a.m. with the public warned away from the area. Some residents in the affected area were moved out of the area, while others were directed to shelter in place.

Around 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, the police sent out a public notice which stated the barricades in place were being removed, due to the suspects being taken into custody. A 25 year old woman and a 30 year old man, whose names have not yet been released, were removed from the home. A previous statement from the police indicated the pair were the only occupants of the contained residence.

Police will remain at the home for the next several hours as part of their investigation.
