City names new Fire Chief

The City of Lloydminster has named long-serving member Bill Heesing as Fire Chief of the Lloydminster Fire Department (LFD).

Since joining the Lloydminster Fire Department in 2018 as Assistant Chief, Heesing has applied his 35-plus years of firefighting experience to bolster the overall capabilities of the LFD and contributed to an enhanced community awareness around fire prevention. He has also served, occasionally, as Acting Fire Chief during his tenure in Lloydminster.

“It is an honour to accept the role as Fire Chief for the Lloydminster Fire Department, and to serve the people of our community in this capacity,” said Bill Heesing. “I look forward to continuing the great work our team has accomplished. Together, we will face new challenges and build on the strong foundation of service and dedication for which this department is recognized.”

“We have come to know Bill as a proven leader with an unparalleled devotion to community safety and the development of his fellow firefighters,” said Mayor Gerald Aalbers. “His decades of experience, along with his calm and pragmatic leadership approach, will serve him well in guiding our department into the future and ensuring excellent protection for Lloydminster.”
