Conversation continues on Alberta healthcare

The next round of conversation on the future of health services in Alberta is underway in the province.

Albertans are being invited to chime in on the work “to refocus and improve the healthcare system.”

Upcoming dates for some of the meetings are:

  • Lloydminster – Friday, March 7 – 9-11 a.m. MST – Border Inn and Suites Hotel
  • Cold Lake – Thursday, March 6 – 9:00-11:00 a.m.
  • St. Paul – Thursday, March 6 – 3:00-5:00 p.m. – St. Paul Rec. Centre
  • Wainwright – Friday, April 4 – 2:00-4:00 p.m. – (venue to be confirmed)
  • Grande Prairie – Thursday, March 13, 2025 – 4:00-6:00 p.m.
  • Lac la Biche – Wednesday, March 5 – 5:00-7:00 p.m.
  • Provost – Friday, April 4 – 9:00-11:00 a.m.
  • Vegreville – Friday, March 7 – 3:00-5:00 p.m. – Vegreville Social Centre

You may view the full schedule and register for your area by selecting this link. When you register you will receive a confirmation email with the venue for your community where the meeting is being held.

The report on the first round of community meetings which took place from January 23- April 12, 2024, is available online.

The report lists seven areas that Albertans deemed important including:

  1. Access to healthcare
  2. Communication and transparency on an ongoing basis
  3. Supporting and sustaining the healthcare workforce
  4. Needs of patients and providers in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities
  5. Local decision-making and empowerment
  6. Accountability of the health care system
  7. System integration and coordination

There is currently a survey on Assisted Living in Alberta which you may access at this link.

From January to April 2024, 2,850 Albertans participated in the conversation by attending meetings in their communities.
