Cement pad replacement for Russ Robertson Arena approved

The Russ Robertson Arena will receive a new cement pad at a cost of $1,920,169 by October.

Lloydminster City Council approved the contract award for $1,669,712 excluding GST to Bexson Construction and an extra $320,169 from the Recreation & Culture Capital Reserve.

On Monday, Feb. 24, Council approved a contingency of 15 per cent in the amount of $250,456.80, excluding GST.

The Russ Robertson was opened in 1976 and the 48-year old concrete pad “is beginning to show its age through cracking and pad movement, causing issues with the pad and board system,” notes council documents.

The project is to start in late May.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
