Organizers want to light the city green for Green Shirt Day on April 7.
The Lloydminster Lions Club will be the ambassador for the day to honour the selfless act of Logan Boulet in support of organ donor awareness and increasing registration across Canada.
They are asking students, citizens, businesses, and everyone to help in the effort to raise awareness.
You can help in the following ways:
- Register online as an organ donor and tell your family your wishes
- Post a selfie or video that you are a registered donor
- Wear green on Green Shirt Day
- Light up your neighborhood green, example, your front door light, stringing green lights, yard signs
- Hang green shirts from your windows or balcony
- Take pictures and light up social media as reminders
The April 7 observance came in the wake of the Humboldt Broncos tragedy in 2019. Boulet had just signed up to be an organ donor when he passed away in the tragic bus crash along with some of his team.
It’s estimated that following his donation, over 100,000 Canadians registered as organ donors, in what has come to be known as the Logan Boulet Effect.
