Lloydminster Bobcats set to start 2025-26 season in Cenovus Energy Hub

The Lloydminster Bobcats officially have their home opener on the calendar for the 2025-26 season.

The Jr. A hockey team shared via their social media that their first home game of the AJHL season will begin on September 19, 2025 with the opponent being the Fort McMurray Oil Barons.

What’s most exciting from the announcement is the confirmation that the Cats will be starting the season at the Cenovus Energy Hub. There’s been no set opening date for the new entertainment center at this time. However, the city has been sharing the scheduled opening window is Fall 2025. This news from the Bobcats organization confirms the building will be ready to host events in September.

The AJHL team will utilize the Hub’s primary arena with seating up to 2,500 patrons. While playing from their previous home ice, the Centennial Civic Center, the team could have a crowd of up to 1,700.

The Bobcats will have a new Head Coach this upcoming season. Previous coach Jeff Woywitka announced his departure from the role in May 2025. Eric Labrosse signed a multiyear deal as the next Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel. Labrosse joins the organization having won the MJHL League Championship, earning a spot in the National Tournament this past spring and being named Coach of the Year in the previous season. Assistant Coach Matt Brassard will return for his second season with the organization. Added to the leadership team is Paul-Antoine Deslauriers as Assistant Coach and Strength & Conditioning.
