Police seek armed sandwich shop thief

Members of the Lloydminster RCMP were called to the scene of an armed robbery on Thursday night.

According to chatter on social media and confirmation by police, a man armed with a knife entered the Subway located along Highway 16 around 10:30, and took cash from the business. The man was chased from the sandwich shop by employees, and nearby police officers were able to pursue the thief into the neighborhood north of the restaurant.

Once police had determined a likely area for the thief to be hiding, they set up a perimeter in the area, with cruisers blocking the roadway and at least one armed officer stopping vehicles to ask their destinations.

Police are still continuing their search as of this writing, and this story will be updated as more official information becomes available.
