Residents of St. Paul and area may have noticed a bit of extra policing this summer.
The local detachment designated a specific officer to provide some enhanced visibility, traffic enforcement, and support, on bike or ATV, in parks, trails, and other areas of town.
On the Monday of the long-weekend, the officer rode 226 km on the Iron Horse Trail from St Paul to Glendon, Glendon to Spedden, Spedden to Elk Point, and back. Numerous riders and trail users were checked along the way.
RCMP were pleased to see that most people were riding safe and sober, but nearly everyone checked had some deficiency with their off-highway vehicle documents.
Mounties are reminding riders that their off-highway vehicles need to be insured, registered, and have license plates attached and visible. Failing to do so can result in fines of up to $310 and getting towed.
