Fatal accident just east of Vegreville

Vegreville RCMP have released information regarding a fatal accident that happened early yesterday morning.

In the early hours of Wednesday, August 17, 2016 members of the Vegreville RCMP and the Two Hills RCMP attended the scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 631 near Range Road 134. Members of the Vegreville Fire Department and EMS also attended the scene to assist.

A 2001 Kenworth semi-tractor was travelling westbound on Highway 631 when the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle and entered the south ditch, rolling several times.

The driver of the semi, a 48-year-old man from Tofield was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is continuing but it is believed that alcohol was a factor in this collision. No additional information is being released at this time.
