Rescue Squad receives $5000 from 100 Men Lloydminster

The Lloydminster Rescue Squad is the latest pick of 100 Men Lloydminster.

The group is focused on raising funds within the community, with each member bringing in a $100 donation per quarterly meeting, and putting that donation towards a chosen community group.

100 Men met for their December donation in recent days, and chose the Rescue Squad. The other group in the running was the Bea Fisher Foundation, which helps to assist individuals with developmental disabilities.

The squad will be using the donated funds for the purchase of a “combi-tool” which is a combination of the Jaws of Life and a tool for cutting, crushing, or spreading metal. Recruitment Officer Ryan LeBlanc said that due to the tool being battery powered, it could be deployed quickly.

The total raised from the evening of the donation was $5000, and co-founder Shane Schneider said that more members of the group will be contacted to collect their donations. A cheque with the full donated amount will be presented to the Rescue Squad after that point.

100 Men Lloydminster has raised $55,400 since beginning close to two years ago, and the next donation evening will be held on Mar. 17, 2017.
