Lloydminster Source in negotiations to buy Meridian Booster

A single company could end up controlling both newspapers in Lloydminster.

The Lloydminster Meridian Booster is a thrice-weekly paper which publishes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the Border City. According to multiple sources, the Booster is currently the subject of negotiations between its competitor, the bi-weekly Lloydminster Source, and Postmedia, the Booster’s parent company.

Leanne Johnston, the Regional Director of Advertising at the Booster, and Kent Keebaugh, the General Manager of the Source, confirmed that negotiations were taking place. Neither had any comment beyond the confirmation.

Neither party has made any further public announcements of the negotiations, or what the deal will mean for either publication. More on this as it becomes available.
