Battle River-Wainwright MLA Doug Griffiths has resigned from the Legislature. The 43-year-old Progressive Conservative says that it’s time for new faces in the caucus, with bold new ideas. Griffiths has been involved in politics for 13 years, and has served as the Minister of Municipal Affairs, and the Minister of Service Alberta. Premier Jim Prentice thanked Griffiths for his service, and said he was a tireless advocate for rural development. The announcement came on a busy Monday in Edmonton, with fellow PC MLAs Mary Anne Jablonski and Donna Kennedy-Glans announcing they will not run in the next election.
