Lloydminster RCMP are warning the public about a new scam hitting the city. Victims usually receive a phone call or fax saying that they have won a prize from a draw that they were entered into by their utility company. The fraudsters use names of local businesses and the RCMP to make themselves appear legitimate. They then ask for cash for “processing and delivery fees”. The police say that they do not participate in such contests and advise the public to be cautious when someone asks for money over the phone.
