Lloydminster Youth Council painting the town positive

The Lloydminster Youth Council is hoping small acts of kindness will make a difference in the City.

Chair of the Youth Council Lizelle van Vuuren says that youth get a bad reputation sometimes and by taking action in small ways it will hopefully change that perception.

“So it’s a big positivity, pay it forward type campaign that we’re trying to get sparked up here in the City because we feel that that is a big way to improve the quality of life and to make people just a little bit happier in Lloyd.”

Their Paint The Town Positive movement has the youth doing things such as providing families in need with meals, visiting with seniors and hosting birthday parties while using social media to spread the message.

“We’re making sure to get the word out there in as many ways as we can, whether it’s putting poster up or if it’s just word of mouth type of things. We’re just doing something nice for our neighbours and kind of talking about it.”

The campaign will continue throughout the 2018 year.
