North Battleford man charged after injuring an RCMP officer

A 37-year-old from North Battleford has been charged after running over an RCMP officer. The man was arrested Monday after a police chase that lead RCMP to Cochin.

The man is charged with assaulting a police officer, dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, resisting arrest, along with several more charges.

The man appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court this morning and remains in custody until his next appearance.

After further investigation RCMP say the injured officer has been next to the vehicle attempting to prevent the driver from fleeing. As the vehicle sped away, the officer fell down and was run over.

Police say the officer’s injuries were not as serious as they first believed considering how dangerous the situation was.
