Wainwright is re-opening more recreation facilities, but not without several new COVID-19 rules in place.
The town’s Rotary Splash Park, walking track, Communiplex Meeting Room and C-Plex Weight room have all been given the ok to resume operations June 16th. Anyone who had memberships for these facilities when they shut down on March 16th will have it automatically extended.
For the Splash Park, residents should be aware that it will not be supervised by town staff. The washrooms will be open but limited to three people inside at a time unless they’re from the same household.
There will be several changes in the C-Plex Weight room. People using it must show up no earlier than five minutes before their booked time to use it and must disinfect all equipment afterwards. The change room will still be closed and walk-in slots are not available. The track is only open to walkers. Group walks are not allowed and like the gym, people will need to leave once their workout is over. Stairs are not open for workouts yet.
For the Communiplex, only one of the two halls will be open at a time. Meeting rooms must be used only when necessary and not for physical activities. Only those invited will be allowed in, and meetings will have a maximum capacity depending on the room.
In all cases, public water fountains will not be open. Physical distancing rules, hand sanitizing and staying home if you have COVID-19 symptoms are all still in effect. Regular cleaning rotations will be happening at all facilities.
Wainwright plans to have more information on re-opening the Arena, squash or racketball courts and the Communiplex pool soon, but only the pool has a date of June 29th tentatively set for re-opening.
