A ninth person has been charged in connection with the death of Tiki Laverdiere.
The RCMP Major Crimes Unit North says the investigation into Laverdiere’s murder has been ongoing for the last year. They explain that evidence and public tips lead them to Edmonton, where they conducted a two week investigation.
As a result, 33-year-old Charles St.Savard was arrested by the Edmonton Police Service, and has been transported to North Battleford to face trial.
He is charged with alleged first degree murder and kidnapping. St.Savard remains in police custody, and set to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court at 9AM on July 13th.
Eight other people have been charged in connection with Laverdiere’s death. Two of the suspects, Brent Checkosis and Mavis Takakenew, have been sentenced on accessory after the fact charges.
Laverdiere had travelled to North Battleford from Edmonton to attend the funeral of Tristen Cook-Buckle. She was reported missing on May 1st, 2019. Her body was found outside the city on July 11th.
