Saskatchewan’s voters go to the polls Monday

The race to represent Lloydminster in the Saskatchewan Legislature will reach its conclusion on Monday.

On October 26th, voters in Lloydminster will go to the polls, along with the rest of the province, in a provincial election that has looked very different due to COVID-19. Voters will choose between Colleen Young and the incumbent Saskatchewan Party, NDP candidate Colleen Henning, the Green Party’s Audra Kish and Steve Gessner, representing the newly formed Buffalo Party of Saskatchewan.

Elections Saskatchewan is advising people to be ready to see some differences when they get to the polls. People will need to keep a physical distance of 6 feet from others, hand sanitizer stations will be set up around the polling place and single-use pencils handed out. All surfaces will be disinfected throughout the day as well.

Staff will also be wearing personal protective equipment and wearing a mask to the polls is strongly encouraged for residents.

Voters going to the polls will need two pieces of ID, one with their current address on it and both having their name. There are over 50 types of ID that are considered acceptable. If someone has no ID, they can have another eligible voter who knows them vouch for them if they are voting at the same location.

Polls will be open from 9 AM to 8 PM on Election Day. Voters can find their eligible location on the Elections Saskatchewan website.
