Accident on Highway 16 leaves one dead, four injured

A teenaged girl has died after a major accident on highway 16 East of Lloydminster. On Saturday evening, emergency responders attended to the scene of an accident at highway 16 and highway 303 where a car was struck by a westbound minivan as it was turning north off the highway. All five people involved were taken to the hospital. Maidstone RCMP has confirmed that a teenaged girl that was in the car has died from her injuries, while a teenaged male who was thrown from the car in the accident has been taken to the University of Alberta hospital in Edmonton, where he remains in critical condition. The two occupants of the minivan sustained serious injuries, but are in stable condition. Maidstone RCMP Constable Scott Plett urges drivers to follow posted speed limits, wear seatbelts, and follow safe driving habits. The accident is still under investigation.
