LPSD teacher gets accolade from STF

A Lloydminster Public School Division (LPSD) teacher has been honoured with the Arbos Award from the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF).

Derek Hyland is one of three recipients of this year’s Arbos Awards. The distinction was conferred on Thursday, April 25 at the STF annual council meeting. The citation reads that Hyland is being recognized for his contributions to education and the teaching profession.

“LPSD is immensely proud of Derek Hyland. Derek’s recognition with the 2024 Arbos Award underscores his profound impact through land-based learning. His innovative approach engages and connects students with their environment and deepens their understanding of our cultural heritage. This award highlights his exceptional dedication and significant contributions to teaching,” says Jason Neville, director of education.

The recognition comes with honourary life membership in the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation and an Arbos statuette.
