Lloydminster RCMP is getting ready to use body-worn cameras on the job.
Members are training on the new gear this week which is being rolled out across Alberta and detachments across Canada.
Local police will be using the cameras in the line of duty “in the near future”, according to the statement from the RCMP.
The RCMP is asking for feedback from the public. It sees the move as strengthening transparency and improving officer evidence gathering to allow for improved disclosure of digital files such as audio and video statements.
The extra set of eyes will also be deployed in Onion Lake RCMP in the next four weeks.
You can have your say online on the use of the new gear.
