Senior Barons prep for home season opener, Sep. 19

One month on and the Senior Barons Football program continues to train hard with the goal to execute on the field in the North Saskatchewan Football League, especially for its home season opener on Sep. 19.

“The football team is working hard on instilling an identity as a hard working team where there is a high level of trust and respect,” says head coach, Kieran Link.

The Senior Barons “narrowly lost” to Martensville Royals 31-24 in exhibition play last Friday, notes the coach. The next game is in Saskatoon against the Marion Graham Falcons, on Friday, Sep. 12.

“The team is led by captains Carson Krchov, Colby Hynes, Raynar Larsson, Rylan Anderson, and Joe Kelly. They have done an excellent job modeling our core values,” says Link.

The schedule this fall, with all games at 6:30 p.m. is:

  • Home season opener at Armstrong Field – Sep. 19 – Martensville
  • Away – Sep. 26 – St. Mary in Prince Albert
  • Home – Oct. 3 – NB Comprehensive
  • Home – Oct. 9 – PA Carlton Crusaders (defending champs)

Practices are Monday-Thursday, and the players are hard in training.

“The team is excited to embrace the youth movement in 2025 as a majority of the players are in grades 10 and 11. This season will be one of growth, development, and continual improvement. The emphasis has been on the core fundamentals of tackling, blocking, and precise execution,” notes Link.
