Nomination Day has closed across Alberta, and the races are now set for the upcoming municipal elections on October 20.
In communities just west of Lloydminster, including places like Vermilion, Wainwright, Marwayne, and Kitscoty, candidates have filed their papers, and the final lists are being confirmed.
Voters will soon know who’s running for mayor, council, and school board positions.
For example, the unofficial list for Buffalo Trail Public Schools is already on the division website, and in Wainwright, voters can look out for a list of candidates posted on the town’s website and social media.
A mix of incumbents and newcomers, with community priorities like infrastructure, recreation, and rural development, is expected to dominate the conversation.
Advanced voting is Oct. 4 for the Oct. 20 municipal elections.
