Vermilion RCMP charge 20-year-old in Lakeland College sexual assault case

Vermilion RCMP have charged a 20-year-old Unity, Saskatchewan resident with sexual assault and sexual exploitation following an incident reported at Lakeland College on Nov. 30.

Following an investigation, police arrested and charged the suspect on Dec. 4.

The individual was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions.

They are scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion on Jan. 5, 2025.

“Gender-based violence is a serious and ongoing issue in Canada and it disproportionately affects women and girls,” said Cst. Jocelyn Hey of the Vermilion RCMP. “Places like Vermilion are not immune. It’s important that, as a community, we work toward educating ourselves and supporting survivors of this type of violence.”

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
