Synergy becomes Conexus, Jan. 1

When the new year begins, Lloydminster financial institution, Synergy Credit Union will go by the new name, Conexus.

On Jan. 1, 2026, the merger of Cornerstone, Conexus and Synergy Credit Unions will take effect following the positive membership vote this past summer.

The new entity retains the legacy name of Conexus with Celina Philpot, the CEO of Conexus retaining the leadership role. The new entity has more than 200,000 members with $15 billion in assets under management, and 1,400 staff across 57 branches in 50 Saskatchewan communities.

Integration process

Service for members will remain unchanged, noted Synergy on it’s social media. Going forward, the new credit union will be bringing teams, systems, and operations together to create a smoother, more enhanced experience for its members. More details are listed online.

Inaugural board

The new credit union will be led by an inaugural board of twelve directors, made up of six from Conexus and three each from Cornerstone and Synergy Credit Unions.

The board has four standing committees comprising Audit & Conduct Review, Governance & Human Resources, Risk and Nominations. The Nominations committee will not be staffed until the new year when the next director recruitment cycle is scheduled.

Details on the new board members are available online.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
