Saskatchewan RCMP advise residents of email ticket scam

Saskatchewan RCMP are warning residents about a new email scam circulating across the province.
Police say they received multiple reports on Friday, Feb. 13 of fraudulent emails claiming to be from the Saskatchewan Fine Collection Branch. The messages inform recipients that they’ve received a Provincial Violation Ticket and include details meant to look legitimate—such as a ticket number, fine amount, due date, payment instructions, unsubscribe link, contact information, and even a Provincial Court Services copyright notice.

Fake tickets

While the contact information listed in the email is real, RCMP stress the ticket details and payment link are fake. Residents are urged not to click the link or provide any personal or financial information.
RCMP advise the public to watch for common signs of email scams, including:
  • Misspelled or unusual sender addresses
  • Links from unknown or suspicious sources
  • Urgent language or generic greetings
Anyone who receives an email like this is asked to report it to local police and the Canadian Anti‑Fraud Centre.
Saskatchewan RCMP can be reached at 310‑RCMP, and anonymous reports can be made through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1‑800‑222‑TIPS (8477) or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
More information on reporting fraud is available online at Report Cybercrime and Fraud.
