Nominations being accepted for Alberta Immigrant Impact Awards

Alberta is celebrating the contributions of those who in the last little while have come to make their home in the province, so, residents are invited to single out these contributions through the Alberta Immigrant Impact Awards.

The annual awards program recognizes foreign‑born Albertans who have strengthened the province through achievements in their professions, volunteerism, innovation, arts, sports, and community leadership.

Nominations are open for immigrant youth, entrepreneurs, academics, artists, athletes, professionals, and community builders whose work has made a meaningful difference in Alberta. The awards highlight excellence reflecting the broad range of contributions newcomers make every day.

Submissions will be evaluated on the nominee’s overall impact, how they addressed a community need, the effect of their actions on others, and their leadership and originality in problem‑solving.

Nominations are open from March 3 until noon on May 12, with an awards event scheduled for fall 2026 to honour this year’s recipients.

Full details and nomination forms are available at Alberta.ca/ImmigrantImpactAwards.

Gerry Lampow
Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
