The Lloydminster Kinsmen hosted a donation event at their club hall Thursday evening to highlight community giving and support.
While the Kinsmen have volunteered and donated to local causes for years, presenting the donations publicly was a first for the club.
Kinsmen member Darcy Wildeman said an event like this helps improve transparency with the community.
“Our group is no stranger to community giving and support, but as a club, we thought it was important to let the public know how many groups we help, the reach of our local Kinsmen club, and where those community donated funds are going,” he said.
In addition to donating more than $161,000 to Telemiracle 50 a few weeks ago, the Lloydminster Kinsmen Club also provided $12,500 to non-profit organizations across the Midwest region.
During the event, Wildeman also noted an upcoming milestone for the club.
“I know it’s a couple of years away right now, but our Lloydminster Kinsmen Club will be celebrating our 100th anniversary in February of 2028. This is a special milestone for us as our local Lloydminster club is one of the oldest Kinsmen groups in all of Canada,” he said.
When asked whether anything special was planned for the centennial, Wildeman said the group has already begun preparing.
“Plans are well underway for our club on that front and how we want to ring in that special anniversary with our community,” he said.
