The Lloydminster Region Health Foundation is calling on local businesses, organizations and groups of friends to sign up for its annual Dodge for a Cause tournament as part of the 2026 Gift to Health Livestream.
The event returns Tuesday, Nov. 10 at Lloydminster Comprehensive High School and serves as a major fundraiser for the foundation’s Greatest Needs Fund, including its New Home for Hope campaign to support the relocation of the Cancer Care Unit at Lloydminster Hospital.
Foundation officials say they are still looking to fill spots on a 20-team roster for the dodgeball tournament.
Team composition
Teams can consist of friends, co-workers, community groups or family members. Each team must have a minimum of six players and can include up to 15. Registration is $500 for up to 10 players, with an additional $50 per player for teams larger than 10.
Organizers are also encouraging teams to collect pledges in support of the cause. Online fundraising pages will be provided to participating teams so they can share them with family and friends.
Spectators supporting dodgeball energy
The eighth annual Gift to Health Livestream, presented by Cenovus Energy, will feature the dodgeball competition, guest hosts, live commentary and community activities throughout the day. Spectators will be welcome to watch the action free of charge from bleachers set up inside the venue.
Teams will compete for awards including overall tournament champion, best costume and highest fundraising total.
Cancer Care: New Home for Hope
Funds raised will help support the New Home for Hope campaign, which aims to create a dedicated Cancer Care Unit designed specifically for patients and their families.
According to the foundation, Lloydminster’s Cancer Care Unit has spent years operating in spaces not originally intended for cancer treatment. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the unit was relocated to a former boardroom to keep vulnerable patients away from busy medical areas. While the move was intended to be temporary, the space has since become the unit’s permanent home.
The New Home for Hope campaign will help fund enhancements to treatment areas, upgraded equipment and improvements designed to provide greater comfort, privacy and support for patients receiving cancer care close to home.
Organizers hope the community will rally around the cause and help create a more dedicated and dignified space for local cancer patients and their loved ones.
