Lloydminster Bobcats look within for new head coach

The Bobcats organization, on its website says Brassard has been an integral part of the Bobcats in recent seasons, earning the opportunity through his strong commitment to player development, team culture and the values that define the organization. His leadership style and connection with players have made a lasting impact, building trust throughout the locker room and within the organization.

“I am thrilled and extremely grateful for the opportunity to be head coach,” said Brassard. “The past two years with this organization have taught me so much. What this team means to the fans and the Lloydminster community has been evident to me from day one. I can’t wait to work with these players and build a culture that every kid wants to be a part of, with the ultimate goal of bringing a championship to Lloydminster.”

Brassard’s coaching philosophy centres on accountability, structure and creating an environment where players can succeed both on and off the ice. His familiarity with the organization is expected to provide continuity as the Bobcats continue working toward sustained success in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

The Bobcats organization congratulated Brassard and his family on the promotion, calling it a well‑earned opportunity and expressing confidence in his ability to lead the team moving forward.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
