Free Car Seat Clinic in Lloydminster June 4: Get expert help to keep your child safe

If you’ve ever wondered whether your child’s car seat is installed properly, you’re not alone—and help is on the way in Lloydminster.

The City of Lloydminster is hosting a free Car Seat Clinic aimed at helping parents and caregivers make sure their children are travelling safely. Municipal Enforcement is partnering with several organizations, including Midwest Family Connections, the Lloydminster Early Years Family Resource Centre, Lloydminster Fire Rescue, SGI, and the Saskatchewan Prevention Institute for the event.

The clinic runs Thursday, June 4, from 1:00-6:00 p.m. at Group Picnic Area #3 at Bud Miller Park. Residents can bring their vehicles for free inspections and get hands-on guidance from trained professionals on proper installation and fit.

Organizers say the clinic is designed to ensure car seats are appropriate for a child’s age, height, and weight—something that can often be confusing for caregivers.

“Even a properly purchased car seat may not provide the intended protection if it is installed incorrectly,” said Tayte Goddard, Manager of Municipal Enforcement. “This clinic gives caregivers an opportunity to ask questions, learn proper installation techniques, and help keep children safer while travelling.”

Before the car seat clinic begin, attendees can also take part in a free community barbecue from noon to 1 p.m., sponsored by the Lloydminster and District Co-op.

The event is free and open to everyone.

Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
