The Treaty 6 – 150 Commemorative Voyage is over. The eight-day mission, which started on May 27, is complete with the Lloydminster Public School Division (LPSD) team arriving at Fort Carlton to warm stew and bannock in the early afternoon of June 3.

The Bishop Lloyd Middle School and College Park School crew paddled roughly 45 kilometres on the penultimate day (June 1), travelling from Borden Bridge Provincial Recreation Site to Petrofka, near Blaine Lake, where they camped overnight.

Staff and students from Lloyd Comp, Avery Outreach School, and ES Laird led the earlier shifts on the epic paddle along the North Saskatchewan River. The weather cooperated for the most part with rain and overcast conditions from Saturday through the last day.

The special paddles used on the voyage will be presented to the various schools at a later date.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
