Driver ticketed after pedestrian struck in Lloydminster

A 68 year old woman suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries on Wednesday morning.

According to a press release issued by the Lloydminster RCMP, the police responded to a collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of 51 Avenue and 31 Street just after 7:00 a.m. on September 7. The pedestrian was struck by an east-bound truck while walking south across 31 Street, and was taken to hospital due to her injuries.

The driver of the truck was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a cross walk.

“”The time of day played a large role in this collision,” said Constable Grant Kirzinger, in the release.

“Both pedestrians and drivers need to take extra care at intersections, especially when the sun is low reducing visibility.”
