Saskatchewan RCMP have laid firearms-related charges following the execution of a search warrant at a Lloydminster home earlier this month.
According to Saskatchewan RCMP, officers with the Lloydminster Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT) carried out a search warrant on July 15 at a home on 22nd Street as part of an ongoing firearms investigation. During the search, officers seized four firearms, prohibited magazines and ammunition.
Three firearms still unaccounted
Investigators also discovered that four restricted firearms registered to be stored at the residence were missing. Police said the firearms had not been reported lost or stolen. One of the missing firearms was later located by police in Alberta, while efforts continue to locate the remaining three.
A 61-year-old man was arrested at the home and now faces three counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited device and four counts of failing to report the loss of a restricted firearm under the Criminal Code.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Sept. 14.
Lloydminster STRT continues to investigate.
