Lloydminster Comprehensive lockdown lifted after police respond to student-related incident

Students and staff at Lloydminster Comprehensive High School have returned to normal activities after a lockdown prompted by a student-related incident on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Lloydminster RCMP initially advised of a heavy police presence at the school and asked the public to avoid the area while officers investigated. Police said the school was placed on lockdown and one individual was taken into custody.

The Lloydminster Public School Division said the lockdown was implemented as a precautionary measure in response to a student-related situation. RCMP were notified and attended the school.

School officials reported there was no immediate threat to students or staff. The lockdown was later reduced to a hold and secure while officers continued their work on site.

In a final update, Lloydminster RCMP said a thorough search of the school had been completed and the lockdown was lifted. Staff and students resumed regular activities, and police confirmed there is no active threat or risk to the public.

Lloydminster Comprehensive High School also announced that RCMP had given the all-clear, with school operations proceeding as usual. The school thanked students, staff and police for their cooperation during the incident.

RCMP say the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lloydminster RCMP detachment at 780-808-8300.

His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
