Cut Knife RCMP asking public to report sightings of Jeremiah Sokwaypnace

Cut Knife RCMP are asking the public to report sightings of 19-year-old Jeremiah Sokwaypnace, who is wanted following an attempted vehicle theft on Poundmaker Cree Nation.

Police say officers received a report around 12:30 a.m. Friday, on Oct. 9 of a man with a gun approaching an occupied truck and attempting to steal it.

The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, fled in the truck while the man left on foot. The driver did not report any physical injuries.

Following an investigation, Sokwaypnace was charged with robbery with a weapon along with several firearms and weapons offences and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

RCMP describe Sokwaypnace as five-foot-nine and approximately 170 pounds, with brown eyes, short brown hair and a tattoo on his left hand.

Police say he may be driving a black Dodge 1500 truck and is known to travel to Cut Knife, North Battleford and Lloydminster.

RCMP warn the public not to approach Sokwaypnace if he is spotted, as he may be armed and is considered dangerous.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact local police at 310-RCMP. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

The charges have not been proven in court.
