Elected Alberta Senator Doug Black is calling for an increase to security at Canadian air force bases like Cold Lake in the wake of the shooting in Canadian Parliament. Black says that he was preparing for a meeting with Alberta Labour Minister Ric McIver when the shootings happened. Black said McIver came within metres of the gunman, and things escalated quickly as police and RCMP arrived. Black said that the incident demonstrates the need for tightened security at city halls and air force bases such as Cold Lake.
