Central Mountain Air withdraws flights from Lloydminster Airport

Central Mountain Air will no longer be offering flights for Lloydminster residents.

The company said in a release that they have “made the difficult decision to withdraw its non-stop flights between Lloydminster and Calgary.” The decision comes after the company suspended flights for August.

CMA has been operating the route for 17 years. They said in the release that “it was a sad decision to convey to our Lloydminster employee group. They were truly dedicated to the City of Lloydminster and Central Mountain Air.”

Flight were initially suspended because of low booking volumes that were a result of WestJet entering the market in Lloydminster.

“With many changes occurring throughout the regional airline industry, we felt necessary to place resources where they were best suited given the current industry climate,” said the release.

The Goat newsroom has reached out to Central Mountain Air for comment.
