Chamber to host All Candidates Forum

Ridings on both sides of the border have been invited to an All Candidates Forum hosted by the Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce just over a week before Election Day.

Candidates from Battlefords-Lloydminster and Lakeland who attend the moderated event will have a certain amount of time to explain their platform and answer questions from the community. The forum, which will be held on October 10 at the Lloydminster Exhibition grounds, will be very similar to the provincial forum held in April.

Acting Executive Director Teri-Lynn Mackie says the forum will give the candidates an opportunity to speak openly on a variety of topics.

“It’s important for [candiates] to be able to shed light on their parties platforms [and] constituencies are able to ask questions on the issues that they have for the upcoming federal election.”

The non-partisan event will be held for local electoral districts in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Mackie says there will be time for potential voters on both sides to connect with the candidates.

“We take our responsibility to our members and our community very seriously. For the reasons, we regulate honest forums for our candidates.”

The time of the event hasn’t yet been released to the public. The Chamber says more information will be released in the coming weeks.
