Webinar available for those interested in running for public office

Municipal elections for cities, towns, villages, and school boards in Alberta are taking place this fall.

Residents considering a run for municipal council are being encouraged to take part in a free election prep webinar.

Alberta Municipalities and the Rural Municipalities of Alberta are teaming up to offer a one-hour online session on Wednesday, August 13 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. for Rural Municipal Districts and Counties.

Another session for Small to Midsize Municipalities is available on Aug. 14, and Sep. 9 at noon, and again on Sep. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

The webinar will cover the roles and responsibilities of municipal councillors, and feature guest speakers, including current councillors sharing their experience and advice.

Anyone interested in running for their local office is invited to register online.

To find out more about the webinar or to sign up, see the Alberta Municipalities website.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
