Lakeland College Open House returns Oct. 16 and 17 at Lloydminster and Vermilion campuses

Lakeland College is opening its doors to prospective students, families and community members during its annual Open House on Oct. 16 and 17.

The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at both the Lloydminster and Vermilion campuses, giving visitors an opportunity to explore more than 50 programs and learn about post-secondary options available at the college.

Throughout the two-day event, guests will be able to meet instructors, current students and academic advisors while touring Lakeland’s classrooms, labs, shops, studios and other hands-on learning spaces. Depending on the campus and program area, visitors may also tour residence spaces, the Student-Managed Farm and the Energy Centre.

Experience campus life

According to Lakeland College, Open House is designed to help future students experience campus life firsthand and explore potential career paths before choosing a program.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to apply to Lakeland for free during the event, learn about admission requirements and student supports, enter prize draws and take home Lakeland promotional items. Certain conditions apply to the free application offer.

Lakeland College programs

Lakeland offers programs in agriculture, business, energy, environmental sciences, fire and emergency services, health and wellness, human services, interior design technology, trades and university transfer studies.

The college says the event is intended for students who know what they want to study as well as those still considering their options. A recent survey found 96 per cent of graduates were satisfied with their program, while 99 per cent of employers said they would hire a Lakeland graduate again.

More information and RSVP details are available through Lakeland College’s Open House webpage.

Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
