Since last fall, a new ultrasound machine has been serving patients at the Lloydminster Hospital in a partnership involving the Lloydminster Region Health Foundation (LRHF) and the SHA.

Funding
The Knights of Columbus and benefactor Ed Behnke contributed $75,000, while fundraising efforts from the Lloydminster Rotary Club brought in $20,000.
“Ultrasound imaging plays a critical role in diagnosing a wide variety of health conditions – from pregnancy care to detecting heart conditions, tumors and more,” said Kagan Kneen, CEO, LRHF. “With this new machine, we are not only improving the precision and speed of our diagnoses, but also ensuring that our patients are receiving the highest standard of care.”
Speaking on behalf of the Knights of Columbus, Gary Gulak, board member of the club’s Charitable Foundation expressed their pride in supporting local health care.
“We recognize that local health services are the backbone of a thriving community,” said Kulak.
The SHA’s manager of medical imaging at the Lloydminster Hospital, Monique McFadyen shared gratitude for the collaborative community support.
“Your partnership with the Saskatchewan Health Authority has been invaluable in making the purchase of important equipment a reality.”
Mike Sidoryk with the Rotary Club noted the importance of the partnership.
“We see too many people having to leave town to receive something as simple as an ultrasound. Having this new updated piece of equipment is a huge asset to this facility and community and will support all of us,” said Sidoryk.

The new machine was officially unveiled at the hospital on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
