The 50th anniversary of Saskatchewan’s TeleMiracle will see the Lloydminster Kinsmen rise to the occasion with the return of Geek on the Peak.
Two community supporters, Ean Bull and Louis Stang, will live in a high-rise igloo for a week, set up outside City Hall near the Statue of Hope on Highway 16.
Residents may have noticed the scaffolding being set up this week which will place the igloo about 24 feet off the ground. The hardy duo will make the igloo their fortress against the winter weather from Sunday, Feb. 1 to Friday, Feb. 6. The weather forecast calls for a warm start to February with temperatures above zero by mid-week.
The event will be livestreamed and you can stop by and make your donations to the cause. Ean’s idea originated two decades ago, and the return of the novel fundraiser will support medical needs in Saskatchewan through the Kinsmen Foundation‘s TeleMiracle.
Ean and Louis will climb the ladder up to the igloo on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. and they won’t be back on the ground until Friday at 5:00 p.m. The Goat, 106.1 FM will be live from the Peak on Feb. 5 from 1:00-5:00 p.m.
Work on the igloo started last year. It will be auctioned during the Lloydminster Kinsmen & Kinettes TeleMiracle Steaknight on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the WLS Convention Centre with cocktails at 5:00 p.m. and live entertainment with Jordyn Pollard later in the evening.
Donations for Geek on the Peak can be made online via geekonthepeak.com.
TeleMiracle 50 takes place Feb 28 – Mar. 1, at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon, starting at 7:00 p.m. CST.
